Here we list the most common issues with the Video Enhancer feature. We also provide solutions to the issues.

Color Banding

Color banding, also known as posterization, is an undesirable artifact that can appear in digital images. It is most noticeable in a gradient between two similar colors, where the transition between colors appears as distinct bands rather than a smooth, fading gradient.

Color banding is commonly seen in gradient backgrounds created for renderings or in photographs of natural gradients, such as skies.

The attached image provides a clear example of color banding, which is clearly visible in the sky.

How to fix?

To prevent banding in your images, we strongly recommend using the highest Encoding quality setting available, which is Lossless. If file size is a concern, you may also consider using the Ultra setting.

You can find the encoding quality dropdown in the Advanced section on the AI filter selection page.

Enhanced video won't play in the video player

There are two possible reasons why the file isn't playing.

Reason one: Missing decoder codecs

Your video player may not have the necessary decoder codecs (H264 and H265) installed to play this enhanced video file.

To resolve this:

  • You can install the required codecs for your current video player. Please note that this process can sometimes be complex.

  • Alternatively, you can use a video player that already supports these codecs. We have had success with VLC (Video Lan Player), which is a free option.

Reason two: the computer isn't powerful enough to play video

While rare on modern computers and phones, older devices may struggle to play enhanced videos due to their high resolution.

If you experience this issue, try reducing the output resolution of your enhanced videos.

You can do this by selecting a lower Resize setting in the Advanced Section:

Full HD [1080p] should still give you good quality, while it won't be problematic to play as the resolution is much lower than 4K.

You can also use any other video editing software to reduce the video resolution even after enhancing it using TensorPix. We recommend Handbrake because it's free and easy to use.
